A report by the World Health Organizations says red and processed meats are carcinogens on par with lead and plutonium respectively.

Carcinogens: A substance capable of causing cancer in living tissues.

Lead: A soft, heavy, ductile bluish-grey metal, the chemical element of atomic number 82. It has been used in roofing, plumbing, ammunition, storage batteries, radiation shields, etc., and its compounds have been used in crystal glass, as an anti-knock agent in petrol, and (formerly) in paints.

Plutonium: The chemical element of atomic number 94, a dense silvery radioactive metal of the actinide series, used as a fuel in nuclear reactors and as an explosive in nuclear fission weapons. Plutonium only occurs in trace amounts in nature but is manufactured in nuclear reactors from uranium-238.

NINTENDO PRESIDENT SATORU IWATA DIES AT 55

Nintendo, the gaming company issued a news on it's website today reporting that their president Mr. Satoru Iwatu passed on Saturday, 11th July 2015 due to a bile duct growth.

Satoru was the president and CEO too. Iwata took the helm of Nintendo in 2002. He was only the company’s fourth president since its founding in 1889, and the only president not descended from the founding Yamauchi family.

Iwata was a rarity in the gaming industry: a corporate president whose background was in game programming. He joined the Tokyo-based developer HAL Laboratory fresh out of college in the early 80s, and immediately began working as a programmer, helping to create classic games like Balloon Fight and the Kirby’s Dream Land series for Nintendo.

After taking the top slot at Nintendo, Iwata implemented a tremendous turnaround of the company’s fortunes, launching the incredibly successful Nintendo DS and Wii consoles a few years later. His passion for games was evinced most strongly in public through his prolific “Iwata Asks” interviews, in which he picked the brains of Nintendo’s developers in ways that only he could, eliciting fascinating details about Nintendo’s creative process.

Nintendo first discussed Iwata’s health issues a little over a year ago when it said that surgery on his bile duct would keep the CEO from attending the 2014 E3 Expo. When he started appearing again in Nintendo livestreamed videos after E3, he had lost a significant amount of weight.

Mzee Ojwang passed on. The former Vitimbi actor died at the Kenyatta National Hospital on Sunday evening after a pneumonia attack. Mzee Ojwang, whose real name is Benson Wanjau, graced our TV screens in the 80’s and 90’s on KBC and ITV in the famous Vitimbi drama show. He acted alongside Mama Kayai.

EVER WONDERED WHAT IS INSIDE A CEILING FAN (FENI)?

It has been a wonder to most, like what is the mechanism behind a ceiling fan. Today will unveil the mechanism behind it and the components supporting the rotation of it.

To guide you, below is a collage image with six parts that show the elements of a ceiling fan. The numbers attached to each element will be elaborated one after the other.

1. Is the outer look, which I am sure most people is aware with.

2. Acts as a protective cover as well as a rotor supporting system.A ball bearing is fixed inside where the rotating part got attached.Aluminum is the major ingredient in order to reduce the weight.Usually 3 blades are bolted at my ends.My direction of rotation will be counterclockwise when looking atop.

3. Part of the motor inside the system.It is stationary all the time.Conductors are stamped inside the unit.They are being called as "stator conductors". 

4. The one who has got the running power.It runs at higher speed when power is connected.It has  two sets of windings named, inner and outer.The direction of adjacent windings will be different.Wonder why it has two windings? (Ceiling fan has a split phase motor ,which can be developed by two windings and a capacitor.Right at the time of starting the fan the inner winding will be active .While running the outer winding will be in function.It is essential to connect a capacitor in between the windings otherwise the fan will just be like oscillating)

5. Provides certain starting torque to the system.If it is absent the system will have a starting trouble and not work at all. It does not require lot more charge for giving the thrust.Normally a 2.5MFD is sufficient. If it is faulty you will have to rotate your fan until it obtains speed.

6. The energy boosters inside the system.  300 or more conductors are inside in a single slot   ,wound on the rotor.If any of the conductor got burned the system will be in trouble.When supply is connected the "blood " circulation will be fast enough to rotate the system. They are the bunch of conductors called the "NUCLEUS"

Google, Apple, Microsoft and Mozilla team up to create faster browsers

Engineers at Google, Apple, Microsoft andMozilla are partnering to createWebAssembly (a.k.a wasm), a bytecodefor use in the browsers of the future that promises up to 20 times faster performance.

WebAssembly is a project to create a new bytecode (a machine-readable instruction set that’s quicker for browsers to load than high-level languages) that’s more efficient for both desktop and mobile browsers to parse than the full source code of a Web page or app.

Browsers currently use JavaScript to interpret code and enable functionality on websites such as forms and dynamic content. Improvements have been made to load times via asm.js, but bytecode-based systems like .NET are faster.

Proposed as a standard that could one day be implemented in all browsers, WebAssembly could bring app-like performance to Web content and apps.

Until WebAssembly becomes more widely available, the coalition of developers plan to bridge the gap with a JS script that will convert wasm to Mozilla’s widely supported asm.js for browsers that don’t support the new format yet.

WebAssembly is still very much in its early days: neither its specifications nor its high level design have been finalized yet. However, with major browser developers behind the project, it should see the light of day soon enough.

Aliko Dangote, Nigerian who is Africa's richest man intends to buy the English footbal club Arsenal, believing that he will lead it to a new direction.

Dangote, who made is billions out of sugar and oil believes that building of an oil refinery at his homeland Nigeria will give him the finance to secure a takeover.

The comments on social networks see both support and disapproval of Mr. Dangote's intentions. Some stating that it will be a wastage of his money and that he should take that OPPORTUNITY to develop Nigeria and Africa since poverty is of high presence. Other comments could read that Africa is so corrupt and Mr. Dangote should stay away from Arsenal.

Analtsis to these negative comments show high stereotype of some people to the continent of Africa. Manchester City is one of the English top teams that was taken by Abu Dhabi dons and much was not complained when the intentions were failed.

KNOW ABOUT HUMAN PAPILLOMAVIRUS (HPV) A SEXUAL TRANSMITTED INFECTION

What is HPV?

HPV is the most common sexually transmitted infection (STI). HPV is a different virus than HIV and HSV (herpes). HPV is so common that nearly all sexually active men and women get it at some point in their lives. There are many different types of HPV. Some types can cause health problems including genital warts and cancers. But there are vaccines that can stop these health problems from happening.

How is HPV spread?

You can get HPV by having vaginal, anal, or oral sex with someone who has the virus. It is most commonly spread during vaginal or anal sex. HPV can be passed even when an infected person has no signs or symptoms.

Anyone who is sexually active can get HPV, even if you have had sex with only one person. You also can develop symptoms years after you have sex with someone who is infected making it hard to know when you first became infected.

Does HPV cause health problems?

In most cases, HPV goes away on its own and does not cause any health problems. But when HPV does not go away, it can cause health problems like genital warts and cancer.

Genital warts usually appear as a small bump or group of bumps in the genital area. They can be small or large, raised or flat, or shaped like a cauliflower. A healthcare provider can usually diagnose warts by looking at the genital area.

Does HPV cause cancer?

HPV can cause cervical and other cancers including cancer of the vulva, vagina, penis, or anus. It can also cause cancer in the back of the throat, including the base of the tongue and tonsils (called oropharyngeal cancer). 

Cancer often takes years, even decades, to develop after a person gets HPV. The types of HPV that can cause genital warts are not the same as the types of HPV that can cause cancers.

There is no way to know which people who have HPV will develop cancer or other health problems. People with weak immune systems (including individuals with HIV/AIDS) may be less able to fight off HPV and more likely to develop health problems from it.

How can I avoid HPV and the health problems it can cause?

You can do several things to lower your chances of getting HPV.

Get vaccinated. HPV vaccines are safe and effective. They can protect males and females against diseases (including cancers) caused by HPV when given in the recommended age groups (see “Who should get vaccinated?†below). HPV vaccines are given in three shots over six months; it is important to get all three doses.

Get screened for cervical cancer. Routine screening for women aged 21 to 65 years old can prevent cervical cancer.

If you are sexually active

• Use latex condoms the right way every time you have sex. This can lower your chances of getting HPV. But HPV can infect areas that are not covered by a condom - so condoms may not give full protection against getting HPV;
• Be in a mutually monogamous relationship or have sex only with someone who only has sex with you.

Who should get vaccinated?

All boys and girls ages 11 or 12 years should get vaccinated.

Catch-up vaccines are recommended for males through age 21 and for females through age 26, if they did not get vaccinated when they were younger.

The vaccine is also recommended for gay and bisexual men (or any man who has sex with a man) through age 26. It is also recommended for men and women with compromised immune systems (including people living with HIV/AIDS) through age 26, if they did not get fully vaccinated when they were younger.

How do I know if I have HPV?

There is no test to find out a person HPV status.Also, there is no approved HPV test to find HPV in the mouth or throat.

There are HPV tests that can be used to screen for cervical cancer. These tests are recommended for screening only in women aged 30 years and older. They are not recommended to screen men, adolescents, or women under the age of 30 years.

Most people with HPV do not know they are infected and never develop symptoms or health problems from it. Some people find out they have HPV when they get genital warts. Women may find out they have HPV when they get an abnormal Pap test result (during cervical cancer screening). Others may only find out once they have developed more serious problems from HPV, such as cancers.

How common is HPV and the health problems caused by HPV?

HPV (the virus): About 79 million Americans are currently infected with HPV. About 14 million people become newly infected each year. HPV is so common that most sexually-active men and women will get at least one type of HPV at some point in their lives.

Health problems related to HPV include genital warts and cervical cancer.

Genital warts: About 360,000 people in the United States get genital warts each year.

Cervical cancer: More than 11,000 women in the United States get cervical cancer each year.

I'm pregnant. Will having HPV affect my pregnancy?

If you are pregnant and have HPV, you can get genital warts or develop abnormal cell changes on your cervix. Abnormal cell changes can be found with routine cervical cancer screening. You should get routine cervical cancer screening even when you are pregnant.

Can I be treated for HPV or health problems caused by HPV?

There is no treatment for the virus itself. However, there are treatments for the health problems that HPV can cause:

1. Genital warts can be treated by you or your physician. If left untreated, genital warts may go away, stay the same, or grow in size or number.
2. Cervical precancer can be treated. Women who get routine Pap tests and follow up as needed can identify problems before cancer develops. Prevention is always better than treatment.
3. Other HPV-related cancers are also more treatable when diagnosed and treated early.

The late famous United States of America Hip Hop LEGEND TUPAC Shakur, would of been 44 years today.

The murder of TUPAC began on the night of September 7, 1996, when the rapper was shot six times in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas, Nevada. He died from his injuries six days later on September 13, 1996. His murder remains unsolved.

Mohammed Morsi death sentence upheld by Egypt court

An Egyptian court has upheld the death sentence imposed on ousted ex-President Mohammed Morsi over a mass jailbreak.

The sentence was initially passed in May, but was confirmed after consultation with Egypt's highest religious figure, the Grand Mufti.

The death sentences of five other leading members of the Muslim Brotherhood, including its supreme guide Mohammed Badie, were also upheld.

Morsi's supporters have described the sentence as "farcical".

The verdict is subject to appeal. One hundred and one other defendants were also sentenced to death in absentia.

Morsi escaped from Wadi Natroun prison in January 2011 and was accused of colluding with foreign militants in a plot to free Islamists during mass prison breaks.

The 2011 uprising brought an end to Hosni Mubarak's 30-year rule and Morsi was elected president a year later.

Espionage

He was deposed by the army in July 2013 following mass street protests against his rule and is already serving a 20-year jail term for ordering the arrest and torture of demonstrators.

Morsi was also sentenced to life imprisonment by the same court on Tuesday for spying on behalf of foreign militant groups, including Hamas.

The judge said that the Muslim Brotherhood had "collaborated with Palestinian Hamas to infiltrate Egypt's eastern borders and attack prisons", state TV reported.

Sixteen other Muslim Brotherhood members were sentenced to death on charges of delivering secret documents abroad between 2005 and 2013.
