African leaders have agreed to create the continent's largest free trade zone that will see 26 countries in an area from Cape Town to Cairo.
The deal signed in Egypt, intends to ease the movement of goods accross member countries with three existing trade blocs including the Southern African Development Community (SADC), the East African Community (EAC) and the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) which are all to be united in the new single zone.
However signing the deal in Egypt is the first step where each member state will be required to approve the new system so as the operations can be set in motions. It is with great hopes that by 2017 all the arrangements will be done for the new continental largest free trade zone to operate.
